Opportunities to Promote and Expand the Market for OCOP Products
Alongside industrial products, processed goods, and high-tech applications, the Vietnam-China International Trade and Tourism Expo, held in the center of Lang Son City from December 1 to 6, also features an exhibition showcasing the province's standout OCOP (One Commune One Product) products.
According to the Lang Son Province Center for Investment, Trade, and Tourism Promotion—the standing body of the expo's organizing committee—unlike previous expos where each district and city had individual booths, this year, a large central booth has been set up in the main exhibition area to showcase the province’s top OCOP products.
Mr. Pham Tuyen, Director of the Department of Rural Development under the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, shared that after registration and selection, 27 OCOP entities are participating, displaying 32 OCOP products, including five 4-star and 27 3-star products. Notably, all 11 districts and cities in the province have OCOP products on display at the expo.
For instance, Bac Son District registered four OCOP products from three entities. Among them are two products from Kim Son Herbal Export-Import Co., Ltd. (Mo Nhai Hamlet, Hung Vu Commune, Bac Son District): chrysanthemum tea and pennywort mung bean juice.
Mr. Pham Trung Kien, Director of Kim Son Herbal Export-Import Co., Ltd., shared that both products exhibited at the expo have already established their brand presence in the domestic market. The company's goal is to further expand its market, particularly by seeking partners to export chrysanthemum tea and pennywort mung bean juice to China and other countries. Through this expo, the company aims to meet with Chinese businesses to discuss potential collaborations and partnerships for exporting their products to the Chinese market in the near future.
Showcasing OCOP products at a large-scale, international event like the Vietnam-China International Trade and Tourism Expo not only allows OCOP producers in Lang Son Province to directly reach local consumers but also provides opportunities for broader promotion, trade facilitation, and market expansion. It enables OCOP producers to find partners for distributing their products in convenience store chains, supermarkets, and shopping centers across other provinces and cities in Vietnam. Moreover, it facilitates efforts to export OCOP products to international markets.
Mr. Hoang Van Chieu, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, highlighted that the expo, co-organized by the Lang Son Provincial People's Committee and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, is part of the national trade promotion program and Lang Son’s trade and tourism promotion program for 2024. He emphasized that the event presents a significant opportunity for businesses, cooperatives, and household enterprises involved in OCOP to gain insights and learn from the experiences of other OCOP entities from different provinces and cities. It also allows them to gather market information and understand the specific requirements of various markets, enabling them to adapt and approach new markets more effectively.
According to discussions with leaders from the Lang Son Provincial Center for Investment, Trade, and Tourism Promotion, businesses, cooperatives, and household enterprises participating in the expo will have the opportunity to promote their OCOP products directly on various e-commerce platforms. A standout activity is the organization of live-streaming sessions to introduce and sell OCOP products in real time. These activities are expected to significantly expand the reach and visibility of Lang Son's OCOP products to both domestic and international consumers.
With its international scale, the Vietnam-China International Trade and Tourism Expo is anticipated to serve as a "bridge" connecting Lang Son’s OCOP products with markets across Vietnam and facilitating their export to China and other countries in the region. This, in turn, will enhance the brand value and market positioning of Lang Son’s OCOP products on a broader scale.
